If a PC power supply has one 12v rail but it is split into 4 sub rails for the purpose of current limiting on each sub rail, can the sub rails be mixed (using say a 12+ volt wire from two different sub rails to power a single device) |

Putting dc sources in parallel, directly, can raise problems: assume the voltage is not exactly the same from two of the sources at their junction, which would create a loop with a (light) difference of voltage but also with almost no resistance. |

Note that the difference in voltage could come from the wiring of different length, or from a ridiculously small internal or extrenal resistance. |
