Turn on 3V LED from Arduino with 5V supply with MOSFET

just checking I'd like to switch a series of LED supplied with 2 AA batteries from Arduino uno. I think 2N7000 will work. Is this a good schematic?

I connect drain to LED, gate to ARduino, source to ground.

You need to calculate the current through the LED. As drawn it will take as much current as the 2N7000 can pass, until one or other of them becomes a lake of molten silicon. What circuit element can you add to limit the current and hold it to a reasonable value?
