I want to simulate very simple circuits. A simple light circuit or series circuit and have the amperes and voltages across each resistor to be displayed. I have used matlab and it has a simple on/ off function that will show data in the meter windows. Does Circuitlab have anything similar?

I think this may answer your question:

Thanks! I guess I need to utilize the ground and node features, then simulate? I was trying to draw a simple closed loop and hang a volt meter off it.

Rule 1 in simulation: every circuit must have a ground node and every node in a circuit must have a DC path back to it.

That DC path may be in the order of Giga Ohms but it must be there. In fact all CL capacitors and switches do have a very large resistance in parallel with them for this reason.

It is also worth noting that the CL Voltmeter also has a parallel resistance:

There's a bit about how to set up a simulation schematic in the CL Documentation:
