Help recreating a circuit for testing.

I'm trying to recreate a circuit called a "CDU" (Capacitor Discharge Unit) commonly used in model railway hobby. here is my circuit:

I'm trying to experiment with component variables as to which is a better set of components for charging/discharging,

issue/problem:

unable to see the charge/discharge voltage in simulator
