Can I make a circuit public (outside team members) read only, and still allow simulations to be run on it? What account upgrade level is required to do that? -Blaze Sanders CTO of Solar System Express |

Hi Blaze, Our new "Custom Access Control List" feature (Hacker/Pro/Platinum plans) does let you do exactly this. You can add additional CircuitLab usernames (free or paid) as read-only participants to a particular schematic, and only they will be able to access the schematic and run the simulation. This feature was designed for teams like yours with multiple collaborating designers and your feedback is appreciated! (This is in contrast to our normal "Public" and "Unlisted" access control settings, which allow access to anyone in the world with the circuit's URL.) Hope that helps! Mike |

I don't think my questions was totally clear. I understand that user changes made on public circuits DON'T change my Workbench file; however, is it possible to make the circuit read only (not be able to move circuit elements) yet still allow a public user to run simulations on the circuit? |

Hi SolX2010, The feature you are describing is something we have thought about putting into the Pro verison of CircuitLab in the future. Getting the feature right will require non-trivial engineering time for us, and I'd like your help defining what the feature you want looks like so I can make sure it fits your needs. I think what you would like is essentially a 'view only' mode that allows the user to pan around the circuit but not move any of the circuit elements or change their parameters. Couple of questions for you:

I don't want to have to give users access for this feature. It should work for regular users that don't have accounts. Level of desire for feature: can < should 1.That capability can be blocked. 2. They should be able to edit the simulation parameters. 3. All editing of the circuit should be blocked out. 4. Exports to PNG/PDF/SVG can be allowed since project is open source. |

Thanks to the tools suggestion:) I just really like the look, feel, and ease of use of Circuit Labs. I see open hardware only really needing open documentation so you can use whatever tools you want. We are use Eagle PCB (which has freeware versions) |
