Need better idea of exactly what you're trying to do.

How many batteries in each bank?

Series?

Parrallel?

Battery voltage?

Indicate what?

Have a read of:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm317.pdf

Particularly Fig 8.

But the LM317 or LM317HV is not a high enough voltage part.

This part might do:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tl783.pdf

See figs 19 & 20.

To adjust outut voltage put a switch and a 2nd resistor across R11 in:

https://www.circuitlab.com/circuit/r3rtpc/lm317-test-cct-01/

Mains transformer, bridge rectifier and smoothing capacitor to get DC input to regulator.

Could do it with a SMPS but that is quite a bit more complex and - though possible - harder to simulate in CL.

https://www.circuitlab.com/editor/#6hrxd9 input is 230 V Ac , however output is not smooth, how to fix?

Um, 230VAC with 60Hz?

Reverse D2 for “improved” rectifying ;-)

For correct simulation you have to add a signal GND at (the now floating) “sec_B” (CL’s “oscilloscope” needs a reference point).

Check your load configuration, 10uF (veeery small?) in parallel to 10mOhms?
