I'm glad the IEC resistor symbol selection was added. But I can't say I like the way it was implemented! This really should be a global attribute (global to a schematic worksheet, or a user even), rather than specific to each resistor. I cannot imagine a circumstance where someone would use use two different symbols within in a single schematic. It seems to me this a user-specific preference. I just went through and changed all the resistor symbols in one of my schematics from US to IEC, and this was not much fun. |

This type of user preference could also apply to the 'wire connection' style preference that people have mentioned. I.e. the choice between using dots at connection points, or using the little jump symbols to show non-connections. I greatly prefer dot connections by the way. |

I am also very appreciative of the new symbol. Although I'm American, I have used these symbols my whole career. I disagree with @TAJ on a key point - I use different resistor symbols on a single schematic to indicate different resistor types. For instance, the silicon resistors in an IC I will draw with IEC symbol; an external discrete resistor or an arbitrary load I may show with the traditional squiggle. I don't see a need to make this toggle any different than that for polarized/non-polarized caps. |

I believe this has now been resolved: you can now select a personal default style, but you can still deviate from the default on any particular resistor/inductor/potentiometer. |
