This circuit shows LC (inductive-capacitance) resonance. The frequency is determined by:
F = 1/ (2 PI (SQRT(L*C)) = 1.125 HZ Period = 1/F = 0.884 (period here seems a bit high but perhaps there is a reason for this?). The circuit analysis only works with a time-controlled switch. If one just puts in a battery with no switch then you get a result which is a constant voltage equal to the battery voltage.
The oscillations are triggered by the step function as the switch closes. They decay over time to zero.
