Twice as many magnets as would be necessary. This doubles the output frequency, and the effective speed. Possible applications, low RPM prime movers (hydro or wind power).
Armature design to have two drums of magnets, with a spacer to keep them separated from each other. Armature drums mounted on splined shaft, so to keep the inline opposite polarities in alignment.. Coils wound on laminated cores, and mounted parallel to the armature shaft, adjacent to both drums. This allows for faster manufacturing, simpler repair, and easier maintenance.
