R7 = 100 Ohms:
At k = 0.1, Vout = 1.101 V.
At k = 0.5, Vout = 4.800 V.
At k = 1.0, Vout = 12 V.
When using this voltage divider as the input for a circuit, it's preferable NOT to have nonlinear behavior in the output voltage because sag only serves to create a less predictable measurement. When linear, it directly scales and thus makes it easier to keep tabs on. When calculations and measurements must be made, it's much better to already know the values instead of having to record them each time and starting all your calculations from square one each time you adjust the potentiometer.
