Simple incandescent lamp soft start.
Switch SW1 opens 1ms after start of transient sim.
Need a MOSFET that turns fully on at relatively low gate voltage and has very low Ron.
Check the power dissipation in the MOSFET as it slowly turns the lamp on.
The slower the MOSFET turn on, the longer it dissipates power!
See the lowest of the three plots.
Thank you for the quick response! Bear with me but I assume that the SW1 open 1ms after start is simply for the simulation? Will changing R1 change the ramp on time? I started this exercise with the IRF530 because it was sitting on my desk. Let me scare up RFP30N06LE and do some bench testing. Thanks! Steve |
